about

The idea behind Vault of Oblivion was to provide intense sounds making deep emotional impressions from the realm of fantasy, where also the more quiet and atmospheric tracksshall take the listener into another world or even on a little adventure.

The composers Kosta and Jan are both passionate pen and paper roleplay gamers and both liked the prospect of having a collection of background and action based music which would not spoil the free creative imaginations of the gamers for being linked to a specific movie. So a couple of songs came into being which shall help in raising an evening of roleplay gaming onto a next stage of vision.

But the composers were not content in having a collection of songs serving only this one defined purpose, but at the same time wanted an album that you could simply play and enjoy with its diversified sounds and haunting melodies. Because of Jan's experiences in medieval music and thereby his dealings with many ethnic instruments he could contribute a multitude of playful and imaginative sounds to the production, like that of the hammered dulcimer, the lute, the Irish bouzouki, different types of tin whistles or the Armenian duduk.

An important feature is the cooperation with Fabian Hoffmann, who plays the bagpipes in the German medieval band Capud Draconis and has recorded bagpipes and uillean pipe for the album. It is the combination of these rare, ethnic sounds with the broad and
magnificent might of a symphonic orchestra which invites you on a journey to the strange, exciting worlds which only you can create in your imagination.
