It took me a long time till I found the right sound for The Pyramid Fortress. I wanted something romantically Arabic like Maurice Jarre's Lawrence of Arabia suite, but it had to have more electronic and futuristic elements, as the fortress is clearly a fantasy place, perhaps even on another planet. Also I tried to focus on the building, not to much on a story around.
When at least I had figured out how to start it was a lot of fun playing this hybrid-electronic stuff, the synthies working so nicely with those rare ethno instruments. I really love the awesome sound of the duduk, so it plays a major part in the song.
